Mixed Company is proud to present the Queensland Premiere of Ron Hutchinson’s hilarious comedy, MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS at the Visy Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse from 2nd to 11th September 2010.
Hollywood. 1939. David O. Selznick has just five days to salvage Gone with the Wind, or he’s ruined for life! Filming has barely begun on his latest magnum opus, Gone with the Wind, and “Selzni...ck’s folly” is teetering on the brink of disaster. He’s fired the director, the script is a mess, and he now has only five days to save the movie and his reputation. This true-life piece of Hollywood lore sets the stage for MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS, playwright Ron Hutchinson’s hilarious take on just what might have transpired during those desperate five days that produced the final script for Gone with the Wind. This hysterical piece of cinematic history comes to life as the three creative forces clash and compromise for five days straight, wrestling over every detail, from Scarlett’s cleavage to Rhett Butler’s famous final words.
The production features a quartet of Brisbane’s finest comedy actors: Brad Ashwood (David O. Selznick), Adam Fawns (Ben Hecht), Matthew Filkins (Victor Fleming), and Alice Barbery (Miss Poppenghul). MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS is under the direction of award-winning director, Simone de Haas.
